More than 30% of Brits say their mum is the most inspirational person in their life and Mothering Sunday is a time to celebrate the amazing Mums, Grandmothers and Stepmothers who have impacted our lives. Traditionally, we shower them with gifts, cards and flowers on the day but we can also make a long-lasting impression and truly give back to our Mums.

Get in the garden
Rather than giving your mum a bunch of flowers, how about helping her to enjoy her own? Spring is the busiest time of the year for gardening and if your mum loves her garden then a great option is to make a start repairing any winter damage and battling some of the less enjoyable tasks.
Give the patio a clean, clear away the leaves (including the gutters) and do some weeding. Go a step further and put a bit of colour in the flowerbeds too. Georgina adds “If the garden has become your mum’s pride and joy since you left home, she would love

Kit out the kitchen
The kitchen is often the heart of the family home and this means it can be the most important room for many. How it looks and how everyone interacts within it can reflect moods more than you think. A kitchen clear out could really make a difference.
If your mum has a fairly classic, neutral kitchen you can still dress it to impress with a selection of accessories to suit her
colour scheme. Just be mindful of creating clutter or dust and grease magnets! Keep it classic when you are looking for kitchen homeware gifts. Traditional coloured items in warm colours such as beige, cream, baby blue or mint, will completely transform the space.
Spring living
Usher in the new season by creating a fresh and clean atmosphere in any room with a few small changes. Decorating rooms by making one change can be as simple as adding colour. You can change the whole ambiance of a room on a budget.
This isn’t necessarily something you will be able to do as a surprise but it’s amazing the difference a
lick of paint can do to a room. Use light colours for the ceiling and work your way down to the floor by using bright wallpaper. If you don’t want to go that far, then just doing some touch ups could have an impact.
As the spring sunshine starts to pour in through the windows it highlights how grubby they are. Sparkling windows makes a big difference so why not give your mum’s a wipe for the ultimate quick win present?
Smart technology
Smart technology products have gained significant traction over the last few years and what appeared to be futuristic fiction has become reality. Keeping up with smart home offerings is no easy task so why not spend time discussing what would be helpful to mum – smart heating, a digital assistant or smart security perhaps.
Your mum would love to know that her security is at the front of your mind. A ‘smart’ doorbell
like this one will help her to keep track of callers without opening the door, and whether she’s at home or not.
