Exam success for Chiswick property professional

Nov 18, 2009

A Chiswick estate agent has secured a nationally recognised industry qualification, joining the ranks of a select number of qualified agents across the UK.

Andrew Shaw of OliverFinn passed the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP) Technical Award in Sale of Residential Property, the industry standard for excellence. It is the required qualification for membership to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA).

With exam sucess comes promotion and Andrew, who started his career with OliverFinn as a trainee negotiator, is now senior negotiator with the firm. Having completed his internal and external training, he is one of a small number of estate agents in Chswick, with professional qualifications.

"We are proud to say that 100% of our employees are professionally qualified and members of NAEA or Association of Residential Letting Agents", says owner, Christian Harper. "Well done Andrew, all of your hard work has now paid off.

"I made the decision to support my employees through the training, to provide a better service to clients, and to show my commitment to individual personal development. I truly believe that all estate agents should go through this training. It's a disgrace to the industry that OliverFinn are the only firm in W4 where all staff are fully qualified members of NAEA."

The NAEA operates alongside three of the property sector’s other leading professional bodies. The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA), and the Institution of Commercial & Business Agents (ICBA).

The NFOPP Awarding Body, is accredited by the government’s Qualifications & Curriculum Authority, and offers nationally recognised qualifications across all disciplines in the property sector. It's Technical Award in Sale of Residential Property is a Level 3 qualification within the National Qualifications Framework, and covers:

Health and safety, security and general law
Law relating to residential property
Practice relating to residential property sales
Property appraisal and basic building construction.

Ruth Lilley, head of membership and professional development explains: “The Technical Award is designed to offer a flexible route for agents to improve their knowledge and gain a respected, national qualification. I heartily congratulate Andrew on his achievement, which represents a commitment to developing his career and to achieving the high industry standards we promote.”
