Jul 25, 2023
The Great British Pub Awards has chosen 87 finalists, across sixteen different categories. Among those shortlisted, nine London establishments have made the cut including The George IV, Chiswick in the Best City/Urban Pub category. Results will be announced on September 19.
TRADITION WITH A TWIST
The George IV has a large courtyard garden with an outside TV, fresh food every day and traditional real ales brewed virtually on the doorstep. The pub hosts comedy nights every Friday and Saturday.
In addition, for summer 2023, there's the Woman's World Cup showing all of England's action across 8 screens. The Open Bar's production of 'The Twelfth Night' is on in the pub garden, while every Friday and Saturday night there are live music sessions and DJ sets.
FAMILY FRIENDLY
The Kids' Table happens every Sunday offering supervised arts and crafts for the children while patrons enjoy Sunday lunch. There's the 'Bring Your Baby Pub Quiz' for brain-stimulating daytime parent socials. On Friday nights, there's 'Barry's Bonus Buzzer Bingo!' with prizes, wacky racing, beer goggling and coin flipping.
MENUS
Four menus include choices such as Guinness-braised octopus servant with fondant potato, pak choi and a rich jus, and Norfolk chicken schnitzel with Caesar salad, anchovies and parmesan.
